Meet Riverside Optometrist, Dr. Duong Nguyen and Dr. Jay Chao

Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Chao are Optometrists in Riverside providing complete eye care services for the surrounding communities.

As a cum-laude graduate of Illinois College of Optometry and a California licensed optometrist, Dr. Nguyen provides exams, diagnoses, and treatments of all disorders that affect the eye or vision.  Dr. Nguyen is trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension as well as learning-related vision problems.

Dr. Nguyen works hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attends continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. It is because of Dr. Nguyen's dedication to continuing education that our Riverside patients receive the most modern and progressive vision care available.

Furthermore, Dr. Nguyen participates in Project K.I.N.D. to provide vision exams and necessary glasses to children in need.  He was the former Head Start Program vision screening educator for the Riverside County.  Dr. Nguyen is also an Associate Clinical Professor for the Western University College of Optometry.  He teaches the first and second year optometry students and allow them to have supervised hands-on experience.

Dr. Jay Chao, O.D. received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of California, Riverside and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Western University College of Optometry.  Dr. Chao takes great passion in taking care of a variety of eye conditions and helping patients with binocular issues.  Having worked with a corneal specialist, he developed an interest in fitting specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, post surgical complications, and other corneal irregularities.  He is also certified to treat glaucoma.

When possible, Dr. Chao takes joy in providing eye services to under-served populations.  He also enjoys living an active lifestyle, frequently hiking, snowboarding, and traveling.
